Biography
Simon Strauss is a versatile guitarist whose virtuoso performances were first remarked in jazz clubs, along with his brilliant adaptation and improvisation skills. Great adaptability led him to huge live experience (he has performed a thousand times so far) within the framework of various musical projects. Besides the guitar, he plays the mandolin, the banjo, the bass, the percussions, the drums, and backing vocals.
As a sideman, accompanist, or arranger, he has been working in 2008, among others, with :
* Gerard Berliner (tours, then 3 months at the Théâtre du Gymnase, Paris)
* ZA ((Grand Prix Claude Lemesle) 20 concerts at L’Olympia (Paris), Amphitheatre of Béziers with Dany Brillant, Le Grand Rex (Paris) with Youssou Ndour)
* Roxanne K (Grand Prix Pierre Delanoë, concert at l’Olympia (Paris) with Francis Cabrel)
* Jacques Verrières (Grand Prix de la SACEM 2004, 2007, concerts at Le Théâtre du Gymnase)
* Numerous jazz bands
Training
5 years of percussions from the age of seven at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatory with Michel Cals, where he learns, among others, music theory.
10 years of drums, notably at the Rhythmic Arts Institute in Paris with Daniel Pichon.
He trained himself to play the guitar from the age of 15.
Besides, he teaches the guitar and harmony theory.
