Stewart Marshall "Steve" Llewellyn (born
29 February ,1924 inAbertillery ,Monmouthshire ,Wales died10 December ,2002 inSt Helens ,Merseyside ,England ) was a Welsh professionalrugby league footballer who rose to prominence in the 1950s. A winger, he equalled the St. Helens' club record for most tries in a match twice by scoring six against Castleford on the 3rd March, 1956 and again against Liverpool City on the 20th of August, 1956. There are only three players –Tom Van Vollenhoven ,Les Jones andAlf Ellerby – who have scored more than his 240 tries for the club.In retirement he stayed in St Helens, working as a teacher of English and PE and later became deputy head at two local secondary schools.
