BIO
Larry Jason Eustice is An artist from Tennessee who has experimented in film, poetry, sculpture, furniture, and many styles of painting. His paintings are signed by his initials LJE with boxes around each letter. He has gone by the nickname Dragon as well, mainly during his time in the rock band Baybee Invincible.
Born in 1974 in Fort Oglethorpe Georgia on Oct 2nd. He has been married twice and currently married to his second wife. He has received awards in every form of art he has pursued.
His writing has been published in poetry books, his award winning films have been internationally distributed and his visual art has been featured in many publications and in galleries in the south.
He attended Watkins Film and Art College in Nashville Tennessee and dropped out of college after a messy divorce in 1997. He then moved back to his hometown of Chattanooga to pursue his art interests on his own.
From 2004 until 2007 Larry Jason Eustice was the Frontman for award winning theatrical rock band "Baybee Invincible".
FILM career
In 2000 Larry Jason moved back to his hometown Chattanooga after a time in Nashville attending Watkins Film School for two years. It was then he opened his own film production company NEW PLANET PICTURES. The film company had a three film agenda which included his first film Faith and Asphalt which didn’t do too well on the film festival circuit with only one screening at the sidewalk film festival in Birmingham Alabama.
His second film AMBITION WITHDRAW received numerous awards from the following festivals "Valleyfest film festival", three "Twisted Cinema Awards" "Downstream Film Festival" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-Movie_Film_Festival B-Movie Film Festival] to name a few and over 30 screenings across the country including some independent film theatres. The film was finally picked up for international distribution.
Ambition Withdraw was about the southern Rock band THE UNSATISFIED and followed their daily lives in documentary and surreal form. The film was also reviewed by many critics giving it critical acclaim including FILM THREAT and Famous TNT MonsterVision Host Joe Bob Briggs.
Larry Jason also worked on a few television shows and music videos during this time including FuelTv, Rock Theatre and created the CIA Music Award Winning music Video "Angels of Broken Rebellion" for The Unsatisfied.
After Ambition Withdraw Larry Jason produced his third film for sister company Trillium Pictures entitled Anti-Horror. Although Anti horror has received some good review and minor screenings it slowly fell into obscurity after Eustice abandoned NEW PLANET PICTURES to pursue his visual art and his music career.
There is also another film Larry Jason Eustice worked on entitled Last Weekend that was shot in 24 hours but still until this day awaits editing.
MUSIC career
In 2003 Larry Jason Eustice formed a rock band called 'Baybee Invincible". This was more than a normal rock band as it served a way for Eustice to showcase his visual art as well. The live shows were full of art gadgets as he called them. These were Sculptures with mechanical moving parts etc. For example one of his stage art pieces consisted of three monster heads, one containing bouncy balls that would fly out of its mouth, one with spinning eyes and one holding a chain whip that Eustice would use on himself during the show.
Baybee Invincible would record one album entitled 'Love and Terror' and have 2 songs listing on the Tennessee college radio charts, one entitled "Snake Pit: would hit number one and remain for 12 weeks. The band also received two CIA Music Awards. They were award both best alternative and best punk acts.
In 2007 the band members would go their separate ways and Larry Jason Eustice would focus entirely on his visual arts.
VISUAL ART CAREER
Larry Jason Eustace’s Art has been published in Magazines and newspapers across the southern United States. He floats across many styles and media. Best known for painting Roller Coaster paintings with toothpicks he experiments with anything he can imagine. Most of his art balances between surrealism and abstract though some have an expressionist feel.
His most known series of paintings are his Roller coaster paintings called "Classic Thrills" his surreal plant life series called "Alien Plant life" and his painted furniture.
Larry Jason Eustice has been known to use canvas from time to time although he publicly denounces it and prefers to paint on wood, tossed away items and old beat up furniture in turn giving old unwanted things new life and making the work he has done on canvas the rarest of his work.
TimeLine
- 1980 At age five Eustice wins his first art contest, first place, coloring a large cardboard easter egg for a children's Art competition.- 1991 Eustice fronts his first Rock band, Managra. He continues this pursuit for a year.- 1992 A mosaic fish Eustice created in high school art class is chosen and placed along with other students fish, in the facade of the restroom building at River Park in Chattanooga.- 1995 Eustice completes his first short film, "The Day It Happened."- 1996 Eustice attends Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville.
- 1997 Eustice sells his first work, currently displayed in a dentist office in Indianna.- 1998 Eustice completes his first sculpture using wood panels entitled "SELF PORTRAIT".
- 1999 Eustice moves to Tampa, Florida for inspiration only to return back to his home in Chattanooga 6 months later.
- 2000 Eustice starts his own independent film production company with a three film agenda.
- 2001 Eustice Completes his first feature film entitled "Faith and Asphalt". The film received U.S. Distribution.- 2001 Eustice was interviewed in a 4 page article in Enigma Magazine about his film and art.
- 2001 Eustice begins production on his next film, a rock documentary entitled "Ambition Withdraw". Completed in 2004, the film received massive film festival screenings, 9 awards and international distribution.
- 2002 Eustice wins the best music video award at the CIA Music Awards for the "Angels of Broken Rebellion by the Unsatisfied".
- 2003.Eustice was featured on the television show Fueltv.- 2003 Eustice was reviewed by TNT Monster Vision's television host, Joe Bob Briggs.
- 2004 Eustice produces the horror film "Ambition Withdraw" for Trillium Pictures.
- 2004 Eustice was interviewed on the television show "Rock Theatre " and went on to do some video camera and editing work on the show for a few of the episodes.- 2004 Eustice forms the performance art rock band, Baybee Invincible. The band continued for 3 years and gained a large following in the music underground, won two CIA music awards and had two songs from the cd "Love and Terror" listed on the college radio charts. The Song "Snake Pit" was listed #1 on the chart for 12 weeks. The band featured sculpture and gadgets created by Eustice.
- 2007 Eustice gets his visual art displayed in the Uncanny Evolution Art gallery.- 2007 Eustice is interviewed in the Pulse Magazine.
- 2007 Eustice's visual art is featured in a two page article in the Chattanooga Times Free Press Newspaper and also featured in regional editions of the same paper.- 2007 Eustice begins creating a limited amount of ACEOS and selling them as far as Europe.
- 2008 Eustice begins sketching people's homes by request and thus completing his first commissioned pieces.
- 2008 Eustice's visual art is displayed at Red Rock Grille in Chattanooga.
- 2008 Eustice travels to Spain for his honeymoon and visits the Picasso museum, the Joan Miro Museum, The MNBC and famous works by Gaudi.
