Occitan : Gòuf Joan) is aseaside resort onFrance 'sCôte d'Azur . The distinct local character of Golfe-Juan is indicated by the existence of ademonym , "Golfe-Juanais," which is applied to its habitants.Golfe-Juan belongs to the commune of
Vallauris in the Grassearrondissement of theAlpes-Maritimes department, which belongs in turn to theProvence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The area is served by the "Golfe Juan-Vallauris" railroad station.On
March 1 ,1815 ,Napoléon Bonaparte landed at Golfe-Jean with 600 men, having escaped exile on the island ofElba . His return toParis , commemorated by theRoute Napoléon , and the campaign that led to his ultimate defeat at theBattle of Waterloo are known as the "Hundred Days ".
