Konstantin Barulin

Konstantin Barulin is the product of the Gazovik hockey system in Tyumen, Russia. The young goaltender was Russia’s long time back up behind Calgary Flames prospect Andrei Medvedev before coming into his own and taking over Russia’s starting job during his last year of U20 eligibility. Barulin was drafted an overage player by the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft with the 84th overall selection. The young goalie has since then been at times a member of the Russian national team, but has struggled to establish himself as a starting caliber and not just a backup goalie in the Super League.
