Retrieved on 2007-10-11.] ) was the son of Edward Aston, uncle of the 6th and 7th Lords Aston of Forfar.

In 1763, he succeeded his childless cousin Walter Aston, 7th Lord Aston of Forfar, as Lord Aston of Forfar in the peerage of Scotland.

He married in 1766 to Anne Hutchinson. They had three children: daughter Elizabeth Jane, who died young, younger son William Bailey, who was lost at sea, and elder son Walter Aston, was succeeded his father as Walter Aston, 9th Lord Aston of Forfar.
