"Carex sparganoides" or Bur reed sedge is "A spreading woodland recliner around 2', with soft green leaves clothing the stem bases. The egg shaped spikelets, lowest often widely separated on the stalk, contain teardrop shaped seed sacs, with a narrow winged margin" [Dick Young.
