HotChalk

HotChalk is an online destination for K-12 educators, students, and parents. It includes a free learning management system (MyClasses), a digital library of educator-contributed lesson plans and fee-based digital content from NBC News, National Geographic, PBS, A&E Television Networks and McGraw-Hill (MyLibrary), and a free online education magazine (MyDesk) including blogs and education articles written by industry experts. Through a partnership with McGraw-Hill, HotChalk also provides online professional development courses for teachers that meet International Association for Continuing Education &Training (IACET) standards.

Founded in 2004, HotChalk, managed by Edward M. Fields, is headquartered in Campbell, California, with regional offices in Bethesda, Maryland, Phoenix, Arizona and New York, New York.

HotChalk Learning Management System

HotChalk's Learning Management System lets teachers automate daily classroom tasks including assignments, homework and grading. Teachers are able to communicate daily progress and assignment status to students and parents via a secure login and email, and access lesson plans and Web-based teaching materials contributed by educators from around the world through a faceted browser.

HotChalk's MyLibraryPlus is a new type of digital distribution system where schools and school districts can create and manage a custom repository of free, licensed and proprietary digital content delivered electronically to teachers, students and parents.

HotChalk's MyLibraryPlus also includes curriculum and content management capabilities where school and school districts can create, enhance and maintain curriculum maps correlated to state educational standards.

HotChalk was named 2008 Codie Award finalist for "Best Education Solution" and won a 2007 Technology & Learning Award of Excellence for "Teacher Resources."

HotChalk Network

HotChalk Network was the second fastest-growing online property from August to September 2007 with more than 6.3 million unique visitors, according to online monitoring and data company, comScore, Inc. comScore lists the HotChalk Network as one of the 5 largest properties in the education category. One year from its launch, the HotChalk Network now receives seven million unique visitors per month. In one year, average monthly impressions increased from 8 million to almost 80 million, with peaks as high as 100 million.

Founder

Edward M. Fields is Founder, Chairman and CEO. Before establishing HotChalk, Fields was founder and CEO of ProductFactory. There he worked with notable firms such as Eclipse Aviation and GlaxoSmithKline on product development programs. Prior, Fields was director of Interactive Publishing at The Learning Company.
