Built by the
60th US Naval Construction Battalion afterOperation Chronicle , the occupationWoodlark Island duringWorld War II . A single convert|3000|ft|m x convert|150|ft|m coral surfaced runway was constructed shortly afterwards. The runway was expanded to convert|6500|ft|m x convert|225|ft|m and a parallel runway of convert|6000|ft|m x convert|60|ft|m was also built, together with 110 hardstands. The airifeld was also known as "Woodlark Airfield". The airfield was used as a stopover point and refuelling point.Allied Units based at Guasopa Airfield
