- Lake View Citizens' Council
The Lake View Citizens' Council (LVCC) is a
non-profit civic organization serving the Lake View community on the north side ofChicago, Illinois . Its boundaries (roughlyLake Michigan on the east, the north branch of theChicago River on the west, Diversey Parkway on the south, going south on Lakewood Avenue until it meets the Chicago River, and Irving Park Road on the north) are approximately those of the original township of Lake View founded in the early 1800s and annexed by the City of Chicago in1889 .The council was formed in
1952 . LVCC was established to provide citizens in Lake View with the opportunity to work together for the common good of the Lake View community. It's offices are located at 867 W Buckingham, Chicago, IL 60657. * [http://www.lakeviewcitizens.org/wdna.asp West De Paul Neighbors (WDNA)] .LVCC has played a key role in supporting property tax reforms, developing the Jarvis bird sanctuary, helping create the Neighborhood Protection Plan, coordinating the Thanksgiving food drive to assist the Lake View Food Pantry, spearheading "Operation Mitten" to provide winter outerwear for needy children, and sponsoring social events to showcase our businesses, provide fun for the neighborhood, and raise funds for our ongoing operations, including the LVCC Summer Fest (formerly the "Clark Street Fair") and "A Night at Wrigley Field".
To preserve the history of Lake View, we recently obtained the rights to, updated and published Lake View Saga. Copies are available at local schools and libraries and for purchase by contacting the LVCC Office.
