The Rotokas alphabet used in writing the
Rotokas language is asubset of theLatin alphabet consisting of only the twelve letters:It is the smallest
alphabet in use today. The majority of the Rotokas people are literate in their language.Pronunciation
The vowel letters have their values, though they may be written double, "aa, ee, ii, oo, uu," for
long vowel s. The consonant letters have the following :*"G": IPA| [ɡ] or IPA| [ɣ]
*"K": IPA| [k]
*"P": IPA| [p]
*"R": IPA| [d] , IPA| [ɾ] or IPA| [l]
*"S": IPA| [ts] or IPA| [s] (only occurs before "I" and in the name "Rotokas")
*"T": IPA| [t] (never occurs before "I")
*"V": IPA| [b] or IPA| [β]hort sample
