The gang was in existence in the early 1980s to late 1990s. It's believed that there are sill active members in some areas today. The name
Luzon andVisayan was named after the two provinces of the Philippines and the letter "M" was named after a third, which wasMindanao . Later Mindanao was dropped and was renamed to Mobsters.By the early 1990s LVM spread throughout other regions and became dominant in cities and regions like Yorba Linda, La Palma and Fullerton. As the gang grew stronger, LVM became a multinational gang with members consisting of Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai and few Hispanics and blacks. This was because some cities were controlled by other nationalities such as Fullerton, where LVM was controlled by Koreans. Other Filipino and some Korean gangs resented having a gang with such a name of origin like Luzon and Visayan to have members of different nationalities. Therefore, LVM had many rivals and was part of the reason for the break-up of the gang.
