United Empire

United Empire

A United Empire is a little known phrase used to describe greater empires that have been forged through the unification of two or more empires. This has happened repeatedly throughout history under rulers using the titles King of Kings and the Great Khan.

Examples

* The Mongol Empire was a united empire that ended when both Kublai Khan and his brother Ariq Böke both crowned themselves the Great Khan. Thus the dispute spilting the great empire.

* Alexander the Great's empire could be considered a united empire. For it involved the unification and conquering of Macedonia, Persia, Egypt, and parts of India. Since it conquered all of these and most of the emperors where allowed to keep their crowns and serve Alexander as a 'Great Emperor', it could be possible to call his empire such.
