Caren Gussoff was born in
New York, New York and attended the dn|University of Colorado,The School of the Art Institute of Chicago , andClarion West . At Clarion West in 2008, she was awarded The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship by theCarl Brandon Society .Upon publication of her first novel, "
Homecoming " (Serpent's Tail, 2000), Gussoff was nominated as aVillage Voice "Writer on the Verge." Her second book, "The Wave And Other Stories " contained a novella influenced byVirginia Woolf 's "The Waves ".Gussoff's other fiction and essays have been anthologized by Serpent's Tail,
Seal Press , and Bloomsbury USA.Gussoff is lesser-known for being a
