Jaime Ramírez Banda was born in Santiago,
Chile onAugust 14 of 1931, he was one of the best chilean soccer players in history, he was skillful with the ball, he had great technique and even at his height, he had a great heading shot, he played in the junior divisions of Bádminton (1946-1947), Universidad de Chile in the Ballet Azul years,Colo-Colo champion with the team in the year 1956,O'Higgins de Rancagua ,Huachipato ,Audax Italiano ,Unión San Felipe ,Palestino and outside his country of origin he played forRacing Club of Argentina,Espanyol from Barcelona andGranada from Spain. In this last country, he showed so much class that he was nicknamed "Superclase" meaning "Super-Class" by the sports commentators and the media.National Team
He participated in 56 games for Chile, where 36 games were official games and he scored 13 goals, made his debut in the national team on September 17, 1954, in a game against Peru, where Chile defeated Peru 2 to 1. But his most memorable presentations in the national team took place in 1962, where he scored 2 goals, one against
Switzerland , and one agaistItaly . Besides he was one of the best players of the tournament, playing frequently as a right winger, midfielder, and even left defender taking advantage of his multi talents. His great performance allowed for his transfer from Universidad de Chile to Argentine side of Racing de Avellaneda. At the end of his career and with 35 years old, he was a member of the Chilean team that competed in the 1966.Clubs
