Israeli settlement in theWest Bank . Located nearal-Bireh , it falls under the jurisdiction ofMateh Binyamin Regional Council . In 2007 it had a population of 5,600.The village was established in 1985 by the Amana settlement movement, and was initially named Avir Ya'akov after Rabbi Ya'akov Abuhatzira. In 1988 its name was changed to Kokhav Ya'akov.
