Alan Farrell (Irish: "Ailín O'Fearghail", born in
Dublin , 1977) is an IrishFine Gael politician. He has been a Councillor since June 11th 2004 withFingal County Council following a 3 1/2 week campaign at the request of former Minister for Justice,Nora Owen .Following his election in 2004, Farrell was [http://www.fingalcoco.ie/minutes/meeting_doc.aspx?id=1201 unanimously] elected to the position of [http://www.fingalcoco.ie/minutes/meeting_doc.aspx?id=959 Mayor of Fingal] in 2007, the first Councillor in Fingal to be given such a title. He is also the chairman of the Fingal Joint Policing Committee.
He attended primary school in his home town of
Malahide and secondary school at Chanel College, Coolock inDublin City . He later attendedWaterford Institute of Technology .Farrell was unsuccessful in his attempt to become the Fine Gael candidate for the Dublin North constituency in the 2007 general election, garnering just under 35% of the votes at this parties convention in 2006.
