Laughercize

Laughercize is form of contagious laughter exercise, which works of the natural infectiousness of human joy. The technique is a form of practiced joy fitness which combines laugher and exercise developed by Canadian filmmaker and journalist Albert Nerenberg. In the course of researching a TV documentary about laughter, Nerenberg told Hour Magazine he discovered powerful evidence that expressions of joy themselves are some of he most powerful curative and anti-depressants available. However they are often overlooked because they are so obvious. Nerenberg believes joy fitness is an unexplored part of physical fitness. By marrying contagious laughter techniques to exercise he created Laughercize, a set of exercises that trigger natural contagious reactions that can often result in extended bouts of laughter with therapeutic benefits. The development of Laughercize was influenced by the development of Laughter Yoga and Improvisational Theater. In an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Nerenberg said he realized that almost anyone could come up with effective laughter exercises and has advocated Laughercize as a meme. Laughercize has been used to treat disabled children and recovering drug addicts who have supposedly lost the ability to create natural endorphins. The system is also part of the regimen in certain Canadian spas and health centers.
