John Kyle Mitchell is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Mitchell pitched in all or part of five seasons, from by|1986 through by|1990.

Originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in by|1983, Mitchell was part of a multi-player deal sending him to the New York Mets in December, by|1985 - a deal which sent veteran Red Sox pitcher Bob Ojeda to the Mets in exchange for several prospects, including Calvin Schiraldi and Wes Gardner.

Mitchell would make his major league debut the following season, pitching in four games in a September call-up. by|1987 would be arguably Mitchell's best season in the majors. Although he won just 3 games, he pitched decently in 19 starts. He pitched just 3 games and 4 innings in the majors over the next two seasons before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles. In Baltimore, Mitchell set his career high in wins with 6, but his ERA was a sub-par 4.64. He would never again pitch in the majors, bouncing around the minors until by|1995, when he finally hung it up after spending the season with the Ottawa Lynx.

Mitchell is the brother of former Red Sox pitcher Charlie Mitchell.
