Tim Crooks

Tim Crooks

Timothy John ("Tim") Crooks (born May 12, 1949) is a former British rower who competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games.

Educated at Radley College, he raced in the World Youth Championships in 1967. He joined Leander Club, and raced in the 1971 World Rowing Championships in the coxless pair. In 1972 he switched to the double scull with Patrick Delafield, reaching the final at the 1972 Summer Olympics and briefly leading before finishing out of the medals in fifth. In 1973 he then moved to the eight, winning the silver medal at the 1974 World Championships behind the U.S., and the silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics, behind the East German crew. Crooks was also in winning crews at Henley Royal Regatta seven times.

Crooks also won the 1977 version of the BBC television show "Superstars".

During the late 1980s and early 1990s he taught Craft Design Technology at St. John's School, Leatherhead
