Birmingham . Bernard Quaife to play as a specialist batsman. [Obituary. "Wisden Cricketers' Almanack " 1993.] Baker played 28 times that summer, and ended the year with 38 dismissals (33caught ; fivestumped ), although in any single match he never claimed more than the four dismissals (all caught) he managed against Somerset in June.
