1955 - is a Japanesescience fiction writer.He was born in
Kagoshima, Kagoshima . In 1982 he graduated fromTokyo University of Science and joined Namco Limited as a programmer, where he was engaged inarcade game s development.Ōba made his debut with the novella _ja. 『コンタクト・ゲーム』"Contact Game" in 1894. The novella appeared in "
SF Adventure "(Tokuma Shoten ). He would often contributed to "SF Advneture" during 1980s, to "SF Magazine "(Hayakawa Publishing) during 1990s. He mainly wrote short stories. The theme that he favoured is "Play and Human being". Ōba probably best rememberd for the novella _ja. 『メイズィング・ゲーム』"Mazing Game"(1989). He is also known for novelization of "Ys series", "Voices of a Distant Star ", et al.."Ōba Waku" is a pen name that derives from English words "Over Work".
