OpenSUSE Project

OpenSUSE Project

The openSUSE project is a community program sponsored by Novell, AMD and IP Exchange [ cite web | url = http://en.opensuse.org/Sponsors | title = Sponsors - openSUSE | date = 2008-08-05 | accessdate = 2008-08-05 ] . Its main goal is promoting the use of Linux everywhere by developing the openSUSE Linux distribution and by providing an environment for open source collaboration through tools such as the openSUSE Build Service.Since it is an open project, anyone can contribute to the openSUSE project by editing the wiki, translating the distribution, creating software patches, developing rpm packages, reporting bugs or suggesting features.

Every week, the openSUSE project publishes openSUSE Weekly News, a newsletter containing reports on the project and distribution, and interviews with members of the openSUSE project.

On May 2008, the openSUSE Project launched lizards.opensuse.org, a blogging platform for openSUSE members [ cite web | url = http://news.opensuse.org/2008/05/07/blogging-platform-for-opensuse-launched/ | title = Blogging Platform for openSUSE Launched | date = 2008-08-04 | accessdate = 2008-08-04 ] .
