Joseph C. McConnell (1922-1954), who served as a navigator inWorld War II before becoming the top American ace during theKorean War . He was killed while serving as atest pilot atEdwards Air Force Base in theMojave Desert ofCalifornia . TheWarner Brothers production, filmed inCinemaScope andWarner Color , starredAlan Ladd as McConnell andJune Allyson as his wife.
