Kristina Kanders (* 1962, Cologne) is a German drummer, percussionist, composer and singer
Background
Kristina Kanders went 1987 to New York City to study music (1992 Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music, Jazz & Contemporary Music Program, New School University, 1997 Master of Arts Degree in Music, Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College)
From 1994 to 2005 she taught ear training, drum set and percussion at the New School University Jazz & Contemporary Music Program. In addition she worked from 1999 to 2005 as Acting Director of Academic Affairs for the Jazz & Contemporary Music Program.
In her New York years 1987 - 2005 Kristina Kanders performed in numerous concerts, festivals and radio broadcasts in the USA and Europe, among others with Cyro Baptista’s Beat the Donkey (Big Bang Percussion Festival Holland: Carre/Amsterdam, Phillipszaal/Maastricht, Vredenburg/The Hague, Vooruit/Gent; Willisau Jazz Festival, Switzerland; Guimaraes Jazz Festival, Culturgest, Lissabon, Portugal; New York appearances with Baptista's "BTD": Guggenheim Museum, NY Stock Exchange, Bowery Ball Room, Tonic, Brooklyn Museum; Central Park/Summerstage; SOB’s und Knitting Factory. Special guests: John Zorn, Marc Ribot, David Brosa und Cibo Mato), Sambanditos (Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Museum of Modern Art, Princeton University, New School University, Museo del Barrio, and several United Nations events, Pori Jazz Festival), Kit McClure Big Band, Joe McGinty, Huevos Rancheiros, Boo Trundle, Maria Excommunikata, and many others.
2005 Kristina Kanders returned to Köln and produces her own music and teaches drums and percussion privately. Since 2006 she performes frequently on drums with [http://www.fkoellges.de Frank Köllges] ’ Adam Noidlt Missiles Orchestra.
