A Rainy Day

A Rainy Day is a one shot animated short from MGM created in 1940. It tells the story of a father bear trying to repair the roof of his house.

Plot

The cartoon opens with the mother bear singing happily as she is cleaning the house. While entering a room, she notices a light coming through the ceiling. Annoyed, she calls the father bear (who is lying in his hammock, taking a nap), tells her that it is not going to rain when all of a sudden the sky opens up and comes down on the father bear. After the rain stops, he goes inside and tells the mother bear that the roof hardly needs repairing while getting his finger stuck in the hole. When he tries to pull his finger out, the whole ceiling collapses on him. On the edge of losing his temper, the mother bear tells him to relax and count to ten. After doing so, the father bear goes to work and as the mother bear leaves him she tells there son to go get his father some water from the well.

As the father bear begins working on the roof it begins to rain again. As the mother bear is singing to the beat of the rain, the father bear starts to loose he cool again and is nearly struck by lightning. Not only is lighting trying to strike him, the wind has picked up and he is literally swimming in a wave of shingles. As the roof caves in on the same room, the son comes through the door calling to his father that he has the water for him. The father bear, now submerged in water hears his son calling and in a state of frustration, claims in a bed and pulls a blanket oven him as the short ends.
