1982 inAllentown, Pennsylvania ) is an American professionalpoker player.Biography
Around the age of 13, Tran began betting dimes, quarters, and baseball cards with his older friends, but usually lost. He improved and took the game more seriously after being inspired by the movie "Rounders", which also inspired his online poker username "Pitt Rounders".
After entering college, Tran hosted 25 cent/$2 max poker games in his
fraternity house that usually lasted from seven at night until seven the next day. Tran thrived in these games, regularly winning with hundreds of dollars. He decided to become a professional after a fraternity when his brother praised his poker skills. But his lack of steam control, poor money management, and a leak at theblackjack androulette tables halted his success early on when he visitedAtlantic City . Tran usually finished without any money. He decided to finish his final year of college after his mother persuaded him. During college, Tran and his friends attended underground games in
Pittsburgh and were generally successful. Some nights he would win big and soon his bankroll would exceed $20,000, but other nights he would leave without a dime. On one occasion, he won $5,500 on a $15/$30 limit game. His sports betting did not help his goal to become a professional.Soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Psychology, Tran began searching for a job. He failed to get a job at
ADP , where he had to compete for the job along with sixteen other applicants. Tran moved toLas Vegas, Nevada to become a professional poker player with two suitcases and $2,800. He moved in with a friend and began playing cash games.Tran currently resides in
Las Vegas, Nevada , and has earned over $1.7 million in live tournaments from playing poker professionally.References
