Fleetwood is a Swedish Baronial family, N:o 49 on the Swedish
Riddarhuset . The family is descended fromLancashire inEngland . The oldest member known by name is William Fleetwood, mentioned 1320, however, documented information about the family starts in the16th century .Thomas Fleetwood (
1518 -1570 ) originated fromHeskin ,Lancashire and purchased the manor of the Vache inChalfont ,Buckinghamshire in1564 . He was a member of parliament and a judge, and Master of theRoyal Mint under KingHenry VIII . He was granted the family's arms on4 July 1548 , which is still used by the family. His grand-son Sir Miles Fleetwood (1576 -1640 ) ofAldwinckle inNorthants was aknight and a member of parliament. His son Sir George Fleetwood (baptised30 June 1605 inCople ,Bedfordshire , died11 June 1667 in Jälunda, Gryt,Södermanland ,Sweden ) came into Swedish service in1629 , becamecolonel for aregiment he had recruited himself inEngland in1630 and finallylieutenant-general . He wasknighted 3 June 1632 byCharles I of England and created SwedishBaron 1 June 1654 atUppsala castle by QueenChristina of Sweden , and was introduced atRiddarhuset as a Swedish Baron19 June 1654 as Baronial family N:o 49.Among the members of the Swedish Baronial family is former member of the Swedish parliament,
