[http://www.angelfire.com/ks/bass/images/bassman.jpg] Born April 27, 1962 in Chicago Illinois, Kenneth LaMont Smith, a touring & session bassist/guitarist/recording artist developed his musical skills as an freelance guitarist and bassist while performing in Chicago's Jazz, Blues and Rock music scene. He later worked as a sideman doing studio sessions and tours for various artist. Sharing the stage with such as artist as Tower of Power, Wynton Marsalis, Stanley Turrentine, Shirley Horn, Bucky Pizzarelli, Stanley Jordan and members of the Miles Davis Band. To this day his reputation continues to grow as one of the best in his field. And admired by many for his versatility in Jazz, Blues, R&B, Alternative/Metal/Progressive Rock, Reggae and World Music.He has written and produced three (3) CD's to date. “BLUE” and “TWO” featuring him as a guitarist and "Short Stories" featuring him as a solo bassist. As an author and journalist he has written 2 instruction books for bass and articles for online magazines Mel Bay Bass Sessions, Bass Musician Magazine and other online publication.
