This is the Diocesan Headquarters of Ankamali Diocese (Malankara Orthodox Church ).In the year 1055 ME(Malayalam Era ) (approx 1880), a Church was built by His Grace Ambat Mar Coorilose Metropolitan in a land of 18 acres awarded to him as a tax free gift by the then rulers ofTravancore kingdom.History of the Diocese of Ankamali Diocese
Ankamali Diocese formed from the historic synod of Mulanthuruthy in 1876.Metropolitans such as Kadavil Paulose Mar Athanasiose, Pilikottil Joseph Mar Dionysius, Paulose Mar Athanasios, Geevarghese Mar Gregorios had ruled over this diocese from time to time. From 1967 Dr.Philipose Mar Theophilose and from 1978 Mathews Mar Bernabas had took the steerage of this diocese.
Diocesan Bishop
The administration of the Ankamaly Diocese comes directly under the jurisdiction of H.H. the Catholicos and Malankara Metroplitan as per Article 95 of the Constitution of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. H.H. the Catholicos appointed the Catholicos-Designate, H.B. Paulose Mar Milithios Metropolitan, to assist him in the administration of the diocese.
The church is blessed with the sacred tombs of former Angamali Diocesan Metropolitans:-1.

Disputes
The seminary and adjoining church saw many disputes from the early 1970s and still the issues continues.
The rival group of Malankara Orthodox Church-(Now they formed new community in 2002 named Jacobite Syrian Church under patriarch of Syrian Orthodox Church)- are fighting for the ownership of the seminary properties.Too many times reval group Catholicose Baselios Thomas I tried and also trying to Seize this seminary , but Malankara Christians fight against this extortion and saving the seminary from surrendering to Antiochyan people, and remembering Coonan Cross Oath.
