Fort of Trinidad

Trinidad was a fort in Chile that existed on the north shore of Bio-Bio river near Laja. It was raised during the Arauco War by the Governor of the Kingdom of Chile, Alonso de Sotomayor in 1585 and abandoned by him in 1591. It was destroyed by the Mapuche in the Mapuche revolt after 1598. It was constructed again in 1603 by Alonso de Ribera but was abandoned a few years later.
