W. Eugene Davis (born 1936,
Winfield, Alabama ) is a judge of theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit . His chambers are inLafayette, Louisiana .Davis was a student at the
University of Alabama andSamford University . After three years at Samford, he received a scholarship toTulane University Law School, and earned a law degree from Tulane in 1960 without having received an undergraduate degree (Samford awarded him a bachelor's degree in 2006). Davis was in private practice inNew Orleans, Louisiana from 1960-64, and then joined a law firm inNew Iberia, Louisiana where his law partners werePatrick T. Caffery and John M. Duhé, Jr.. In 1976, he was appointed as a judge of theUnited States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana . In 1983, he was appointed to the Fifth Circuit by PresidentRonald Reagan .External links
