Ric Viers

Ric Viers is an American Sound Designer, Director, and Screenwriter. As a Sound Designer, his body of work has appeared in libraries for Sound Ideas, The Hollywood Edge, Video Helper, and many others. Additionally, he has provided sound effects material for such companies as Apple, Sony, and Adobe. Ric Viers is considered to be the "largest independent provider" of sound effects for the motion picture, television, radio, and video gaming industries with over 150,000 sound effects and over 150 libraries to his name as of mid 2008.

Though Viers had been working in the industry as a freelance sound designer for over 10 years, it wasn't until 2005 that he founded The Detroit Chop Shop, a post sound production facility located in Macomb, MI. In 2006, Ric Viers landed a deal to write a book about the sound effects industry for Michael Wiese Productions. The title of the book is "The Sound Effects Bible", and its release date was October 1, 2008.

In 2007, to celebrate Viers' 100th sound effects library, he founded Blastwave FX - The New Wave In Sound Effects, the world's first all high definition sound effects publishing company. In less than a year, Blastwave FX turned out an impressive 32,000 plus sound effects, including the eclectic HD collection SONOPEDIA, a 20,000+ sound effects library, making a solid and impressive mark in the sound effects industry.
