Abiye

Abiye Tekelemariam [also Abiy Teklemariam] is a journalist and editor of Addis Neger, one of the most prestigious Newspapers in Ethiopia. He is also the co-host of a popular football show on Sheger FM, Ethiopia's sole independent radio station [http://en.afrik.com/article12426.html] .Abiye burst into the media scene in Ethiopia in 2005 when an entertainment paper he edited turned into a political newspaper. His poll and data-driven analysis [http://abiy.wordpress.com/2007/11/01/meznagna-reappeared-with-an-alias] of the election attracted plenty of educated Ethiopians. But government supporters accused him and his newspaper of distorting facts and numbers to help the opposition. A sports show he co-hosted with Fisseha Tegegn, a famous football journalist, was also shut down.
