Simcountry, commonly abbreviated as SC by its users, is a massively multiple player online browser game with strategic, economical and geo-political nuances. Players may choose to play the role of a CEO, or a President or both. As CEOs or as Presidents, the objective given to new players is to be improve his enterprise or country's score in order to rise in the ranks. From there, players may grow their empires to begin exercising influence in the game.

Simcountry was created by Jossi Gil and his team, known as W3Creative. They first had the idea in 2000, but it took them over a year to code the first release of the game.

Overview

Simcountry is composed of five virtual worlds, each with several countries. Kebir Blue is the smallest of the world simulators with 3,061 countries and White Giant the largest with 6,367.

The economy in Simcountry revolves around 205 products arranged in 13 groups. Most of the markets of each one of these products are perfect competition markets. The computer controlled countries of each world behave as economic agents are excepted to, correcting shortages and surpluses as they can. Each world, every country, belongs to a Economic and Monetary Union, so there's a single currency within each world, no tariffs and an overall stabillity in prices.

War can be waged agaisnt other players or computer controlled countries using the war engine, which is mainly based on the destruction of targets and ocupation of land with Military Units.

Gameplay

After a player registers, he will have the option to play has CEO or has President in one of the five virtual simulation worlds. The game will provide tips, help and gifts each time a player logs in to his nation. As a CEO, the player will grow by building or acquiring profitable corporations; and as a President, the player will gain influence by capturing countries from the game or other players, building up his military.

There are Federations and Common Markets which a player may join or start their own. These will help the player in business or in times of war. They'll also serve as a medium of communication and socialization with other players.

The also has its own internal market, known as Cash Market, to allow the exchange of enterprises, countries, population for Gold Coins, the game's currency.

Practical Limits

There are practical limits imposed on both Presidents and CEOs in Simcountry.

Presidents - While there is no hard limit set for the number of countries that one can run in an empire, member countries of an empire begin to suffer instabilities due to the logistical problems of maintaining such a large infrastructure. After a player acquires 11 countries, they will start seeing rebellions. While these rebellions never "liberate" a country, the disrupt the economy through rebel attacks that destroy infrastructure, and namely, corporations. Beyond 13 countries and a player will begin seeing a ballooning of monthly government costs. The government costs associated with a large empire can quickly make its maintenance unprofitable.

CEOs - CEOs are limited to building 750 corporations; however, more can be acquired beyond this limit through share trading on the stock market.
