The Apalachee region is a distinct historical and geographical area using part the same boundaries as the
Apalachee Province being bounded on the east by theAucilla River , on the west by theOchlockonee River , by the state line to the north and by theApalachee Bay to the south.The region comprises both geographical features of the
Red Hills Region andWoodville Karst Plain . Elevation runs from 288 feet just south ofLake McBride in northern Leon County according to Tall Timbers Research Station to sea level atSt. Marks, Florida .Florida State University documents the use of Apalachee region in this passage:"
