Andrea "the ice cream lady" Martinez
Andrea Martinez is a native of Tucson Arizona who became infamous for the "ice cream truck murders" in the summer of 2004. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole in January 2005.
Among her numerous firsts Ms. Martinez is the first Hispanic female to make the F.B.I.'s most wanted list.
Trial psychologists testified Ms. Martinez suffered from bi-polar disorder. Her fits of rage were so intense that she would often blackout for hours at a time. During one of these blackouts in the spring of 2002 Andrea struck Christopher Maynard (a 65 year old Vietnam vet) over the head with a wine bottle. The man refused to press charges, too embarrassed to admit a woman had beat him up. In a 2006 interview Mr. Maynard claimed he was overwhelmed with guilt about not pressing charges. Mr Maynard believed "the ice cream truck murders" could have been avoided.
"The ice cream lady" was sentenced for the murder of 17 children. All the victims were under the age of 12.
Ms. Martinez held a job with the Mr. Freezey Ice Cream Co. for 7 years. It was through this job she had access to so many unattended children. She murdered all of the children by poisoning. The children were lower income Mexican immigrants who she felt were "a burden on the American way of life." Andrea has utter disdain for Mexicans who "choose" not to assimilate.
She was known to say "If you're in America, talk like an American."
