Shayne M. Bowen

Shayne Martell Bowen (born August 29, 1954) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since April 2006.

Biography

Bowen was born in Rigby, Idaho. From 1973 to 1975, Bowen was an LDS Church missionary in the Chile Santiago Mission of the church. He then studied at Brigham Young University, where he received a degree in English in 1977.

Bowen was employed in the insurance business and was preisdent and owner of Bowen Insurance. He is married to the former Lynette Mortensen and they have seven children.

From 2000 to 2003, Bowen was the president of the LDS Church's Spain Barcelona Mission. From 2005 to 2006, he was an area seventy. Immediately prior to thi,s Bowen was the president of the BYU–Idaho First Stake. From 1990 to 1999, Bowen had been the president of the Idaho Falls Idaho West Stake. He has also served as a bishop in the LDS Church.

At the April 2006 general conference of the LDS Church, Bowen was accepted by the membership as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
