Douglas Texter was born
December 6 ,1967 in Erie. After attendingCathedral Preparatory School , Texter graduated from theUniversity of Pennsylvania with a BA in English in 1992. Texter then worked as a production editor atW.B. Saunders Company inPhiladelphia . In 1997, Texter earned his MA in English fromVillanova University . Then Texter attended theRadcliffe Publishing Course inCambridge , MA. and worked as acollege textbook editor atHoughton Mifflin inBoston , MA. Texter is currently finishing hisPh.D . in English from theUniversity of Minnesota .Writing career
Texter began writing fiction, satire and essays in 2000. After his first short story was accepted for publication in
The Urban Bizarre (edited byNick Mamatas ), Texter attended theClarion Science Fiction Writers Workshop in 2003, the Viable Paradise Writers Workhop in 2005, and theRobert McKee Story Seminar 2007. In 2006, Texter won theWriters of the Future Contest.Themes
Much of Texter’s work deals with
