Michael Gene Horowitz (
New York City,2 September 1945 — ) is a U.S. sociologist, specializing in theanthropology of ancient and medievalIndo-european speakers, including the anthropology of ancient science in Greece. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in politics atBrandeis University andNew School university respectively, then an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in urban life from the College of Public Affairs at Oregon'sPortland State University . Horowitz was a student ofHerbert Marcuse 's at Brandeis andHannah Arendt 's at New School, before completing his Ph.D. dissertation under Carl Abbott at Portland State, a former president of the Urban History Association. He is currently university dean at ʻAtenisi institute in the Kingdom ofTonga in the South Pacific.Selected articles
