Celestino Piatti was a Swiss graphic artist, painter and book designer.
The son of a Ticino Steinhauers Zurich farmers and a daughter grew up in Dietlikon, visited 1937 from the Arts and Crafts School in Zurich and then completed a graphic teaching. Since 1948, he worked as a freelance graphic designer, from 1966 until his death in Basel and Duggingen.
First he achieved international success as a designer of posters. Of its more than 500 artists, many posters with prizes.
Especially Piatti made known his work for the Germans Taschenbuchverlag (dtv), whose books since the founding of the publishing house from 1961 until the mid-1990s, almost exclusively designed Piatti. In addition to the cover design, he was responsible for typography, Signet, letterheads, advertisements and posters responsible, so that a uniform corporate identity in a timely manner.
