Patrick S. Cousins

Cousins Official Biography] ] (born November 3, 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a prominent Florida attorney, specializing in lemon law and entertainment law among other areas of the law. He is best known for two landmark decisions regarding attorney's fees under the Florida Lemon Law. In Gelinas v. Forest River, he established the Florida consumer's right to attorney's fees and costs when their vehicle is declared a lemon. His second major victory was in Fox v. Porsche Cars North America, a case stemming from Florida's (if not the nation's) largest lemon law refund. Fox v. Porsche, which was heard in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, affirmed that Gelinas controlled and was state law in Florida. In addition to his work in the field of lemon law, Mr. Cousins is also an entertainment lawyer, counting Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Prince's among his clients. Mr. Cousins holds an undergraduate degree from the The College of William & Mary, attending as a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar and captain of the track team, he graduated with a degree in economics. He was awarded a Virgil Hawkins Fellowship to attend the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor and currently serves as a member of the Law School Alumni Council.
