Badug

Badug

The Badug were a Shadag ethnic group in Azerbaijan. The Badug were primarily Shi'ah Muslims. They numbered about 3,400 in 1886 but only one person identified himself as a Badug in 1926. However nearly 2,000 people still claimed the Badug language as their mother tongue, so it appears that most Badugs had decided to identify themselves as Azeris.

The Badug lived near Mount Shahdag in th Konakhkend Rayon.
