Hector Giacomelli, born in
Paris onApril 1, 1822 and died inMenton on December 1, 1904. He was a watercolorist, french engraver and illustrator, best known for his paintings of birds.Biography
His Italian father, a professor of singing, was first engraver before becoming an industrial designer for the goldsmith of the jewellery. He then started to draw and paint plants, insects and birds around his new and spectacular house. Making lots of money in Paris, he developed a passion for the work of
Auguste Raffet , which he published the catalog "racist" in 1862. He worked withGustave Doré , for which he composed ornaments like "The Holy Bible according to the Vulgate", published in 1866. He contributed drawings to several newspapers, such asThe World illustrated ,The Store picturesque andIllustration . He also privately illustrated books that brought him wealthy bibliophiles. He was one of the organizers of the exposition of the century prints of 1887 and Section retrospective of Fine Arts, theUniversal Paris Exposition of 1889 . Illustrating on top of other artists likeJules Michelet ,André Theuriet François Coppée andAlfred de Musset , Giacomelli also became a renowned collector. He has writtenHenri Béraldi , the most beautiful collection of prints of known the nineteenth century. It is a passion, delusional, arabbit .
