Thomas Earle Welby

Thomas Earle Welby (1811 – January 6, 1899) was a Bishop in the Anglican church.

Family

He was the second son of Sir William Earle Welby, the second baronet.

He married Mary Browne in 1837.

Education

He was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge and ordained in the diocese of Toronto.

Career

He was rector of Sandwich in Canada, Rector of Newton-near-Folkingham. Then Archdeacon of Georgetown, South Africa in 1856 and Bishop of St Helena 1867 - 1899.

Death

He was killed in a carriage accident at Jamestown.
