Dr. Mary Yang is a
NIH scientist inMaryland . She received her Ph.D., MSECE and MS degrees, all fromPurdue University ,West Lafayette main campus, her post doctoral training from NIH and the research specialist training from NIH, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Oak Ridge, DOE. She also received training inbiostatistics andbioinformatics fromJohns Hopkins University in Maryland. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Interdisciplinary Bisland Dissertation Fellow forComputer Engineering andBiophysics Dual Degrees and NIH Fellow for NationalHuman Genome Research. Dr. Yang works in bothengineering practice andtranslational medicine and was trained as a combined experimental and computer scientist with more than 15 years of teaching, research and engineering practice experience insoftware engineering andbiomedical science . She was the scientific review, advisory and steering committee chair ofIEEE Bioinformatics andBioengineering atHarvard Medical School in 2007 and advisory committee chair of Biocomp andIJCBS .She is the Editor-in-Chief of
International Journal of Computational Biology and Drug Design and an honorary consulting editor ofInternational Journal of Functional Informatics and Personalized Medicine , the official journals ofInternational Society of Intelligent Biological Medicine . She has been an editor of more than a dozen journals andproceedings books such as Journal ofSupercomputing (Springer Science ), International Journal ofPattern Recognition andArtificial Intelligence (World Scientific ) and IEEEBioinformatics andBioengineering (IEEE ). Dr. Yang developedhybrid intelligent system s and contributed to the research in bidirectionalpromoters ,cancer genomics,transmembrane proteins and theirdisease relevancies. She was a recipient of over a dozen outstanding achievement and best paper awards and has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters. Dr. Yang has delivered many invited talks including a number ofkeynote lectures to promote the emerging field oftranslational bioinformatics andpersonalized medicine .
