Tanaka Business School

From 1 October 2008, Tanaka Business School will be known as Imperial College Business School. The new shows more clearly that the School is an important and integral part of Imperial College. The School building will be known as the Tanaka building.

Imperial College Business School is located on the South Kensington campus in West London.

Its present building resulted from a £27 million gift from the Japanese-American businessperson, Gary Tanaka, a PhD graduate. It was designed by Foster and Partners and Buro Happold. It consists of a large cylindrical structure within the new entrance lobby to Imperial College. The entrance lobby has an ETFE roof. The business school building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004.

Imperial College Business School is often rated as one of the best and most prestigious in the UK Fact|date=February 2007, it is accredited by EQUIS and has programmes and courses accredited by AMBA.

Students from Imperial College Business School have won various prizes at business plan competitions including Idea to Product competition held in Texas, USA. Smart Bougie, won the 2006 competition.

Programmes of Study

Undergraduate

The school itself doesn't offer undergraduate degrees, however the majority of undergraduate students in other faculties of Imperial College London will have the option of studying management modules towards their degrees. Some departments' students can combine management with their science courses to attain a joint-honours degree.Medical students can study an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences with Management while in their fourth year before returning to clinical training. Medical students from other universities can join this course.

Postgraduate

Imperial College Business School offers a full time MBA that is ranked 17th in Europe and 8th in the world for entrepreneurship by the Financial Times and a part time Executive MBA programme that is ranked 4th in Europe. Fact|date=August 2007

The School also has very popular Master's programmes in Finance, Risk Management and Financial Engineering, Actuarial Finance, International Health Management, and boasts a highly regarded MSc Management program.The School also has a thriving PhD programme.
