Julia Abigail Fletcher Carney

Julia Abigail Fletcher Carney, born Julia Fletcher (April 6, 1823, Lancaster, MassachusettsNovember 1, 1908, Galesburg, Illinois) was an American educator and poet. [Herringshaw, T. W., "Herringshaw's national library of American biography", 5 vols, 1909-14]

Educated at Lancaster Academy, Julia Fletcher achieved fame in 1845 for her poem "Little Things". Julia Fletcher Carney wrote for "Universalist" and other periodicals; many of her poems were set to music and published in school text-books or as hymns.
