Feldebrő stands in the valley of the Tarna river, at the South-esatern foot of
Mátra mountains. In the vicinity the following neighbor villages can be found:Vécs ,Aldebrő ,Tófalu ,Kerecsend ,Egerszólát andVerpelét . The village belongs to the archiepiscop ofEger .Origin of the name of the village
The name of the village comes from the Hungarian word: debrő with meaning: "wide, plane, flat floor valley". It may have connection with the word debra with meaning waterflown valley in Slavic language.

In the Árpád age the village belonged to the Aba genus. It may have a centre of this genus, because the main importance of the church where a Hungarian king was entombed. The original church built in the 11. century and had Greek cross form fondation and in the centre there was the crypt of the king
Samuel Aba of Hungary . Later the fourfold symmetric building was transformed to a three nave church, however, the lower church was preserved.References
