Bishop of Hamheung

Bishop of Hamheung

The Bishop of Hamheung heads the Catholic Diocese of Hamheung which was created in 1940 as an Apostolic Vicariate. It was promoted to be a diocese in 1962 as a suffragen diocese to the Archdiocese of Seoul.

Due to persecution of the religions in North Korea, the Bishops of the diocese in the country are not residential, and act as the apostolic administrator.
